Pregones/PRTT with R.Evolución Latina

Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater and R.Evolución Latina announce the 2023 edition of their joint Raúl Juliá Training Unit (RJTU) and Beyond Workshop Series (BWS), an acclaimed interdisciplinary training and outreach program that challenges practicing and aspiring artists to further develop their creative, performative, technical, self-confidence, and leadership skills to succeed in the arts.

The focus of this year’s program will be MOVEMENT, a powerful undercurrent to everything we do as artists from dance to music to acting. We will work together to assist the development of stage artists through movement, how movement is part of the story we want to tell and, in the same way, how movement connects with our voices and vibrates throughout and beyond our communities.

Participants will explore the power of movement and its crucial role in storytelling for the theater utilizing such tools as Viewpoints, Suzuki, Contemporary Dance, Devised Theatre, and more. Our 2023 RJTU + BWS is again led by a stellar network of Broadway and Off-Broadway professional dancers, choreographers, performers, and teachers. We invite you to be part of this unique process of artistic and human development.

APPLY HERE: Online application now open through January 30, 2023. We seek artists that are dedicated to growing and giving back through their art. All disciplines, experience levels, and ethnic/cultural heritages are encouraged to apply.

COST AND COMMITMENT:

  • FREE • NO COST! This program is created to further the growth of artists that are committed to giving back. Those accepted into the 2023 RJTU + BWS will receive a full scholarship. In return, participants are asked to pay it forward by volunteering of their time and talents to help others go beyond.
  • Pregones/PRTT and R.Evolución Latina provide this platform as a means to empower professional and aspiring artists. We believe that coming together as creative community makes us stronger, and that all tools have a place in our creative practice!

Pregones/PRTT and R.Evolución Latina proudly collaborate as a way honor and amplify the legacy of Miriam Colón (1936-2017) and Raúl Juliá (1940-1994), two titans who helped pave the way for all Latinx artists today.
