The great Danny Rivera joins bassist Konrad Adderley’s musical quintet and four dancers in Tango Revolution, a one-night fusion tribute to jazz legend Thelonious Monk and Argentine tango!
Considered one of the giants of American music, jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Sphere Monk had a unique improvisational style full of dissonances and angular melodic twists, combined with a highly percussive attack, and dramatic use of silences and hesitations. It is in this signature style that bassist Konrad Adderley finds a common thread with the passionate structure of Argentine Tango.
Add the spectacularly warm voice of the great Danny Rivera and you have the makings of a unique and truly memorable night of jazz/tango music.

DANNY RIVERA • A multiple-time Grammy® nominee and a tireless advocate for peace and social justice. Known as “The National Voice of Puerto Rico,” he has sold millions of records, headlined major venues throught the world, and shared the stage with stars like Julio Iglesias and Plácido Domingo. He received the citizenship of the Dominican Republic in 2008, and in 2009 he performed at the Paz Sin Fronteras concert in Havana, Cuba, in front of over 1,150,000 people and broadcast internationally. This is Danny’s second production with Pregones. he received the Master Artist Award from Pregones for his unparalleled music career and dedication to promoting the importance of arts and culture in our society.
KONRAD ADDERLEY • Bronx-born bassist and tango renegade, lives by The Duke’s dictum that “it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.“ He is a seasoned jazz musician, equally at home at the club, the concert hall, the festival, or the Broadway stage. Fond of tapping and slapping his instrument, he brings a rhythmic backbone to his tango band project MonkTango, where drums are not traditionally employed.
