A night of 6 short plays about the BX’s most memorable dance clubs!
The 2018 rendition of 48 Hours in El Bronx takes a tour through some of the most memorable dance clubs in the Boogie Down’s history. Known as the borough of music, the six clubs selected for this year’s celebration include:
- Club 845 – the Prospect Ave home of Jazz and Be Bop in the 1950’s
- Tritons – the 1960’s premiere live Latin music club
- Disco Fever – the famed 1970’s South Bronx Hip Hop dance club
- The Savoy Manor – the 70’s & 80’s stage of the likes of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five Live
- G.T.’s – a primarily Latina & Latino 1990’s Bronx LGBTQ dance club
- Mexico in the BX – a series of Mexican music and dance clubs in the Bronx
HOW? 6 PLAYWRIGHTS • 6 DIRECTORS • 18 ACTORS unite in six 10-minute raw impressions of the BX dance and music history. The short plays are created over the span of 48 Hours and performed live in two thrilling final performances – one in the Bronx and the other in Manhattan!
