Our popular March Is Music concert series is back featuring 10 live concerts by world-class Latin, jazz, fusion, and classical artists. All events are presented live at Pregones Theater in The Bronx, a.k.a. The Borough of Music (“El condado de la música”). Evening concert tickets are $35; matinee concerts for Bronx Piano Sundays subseries are Free Admission. Our venue is intimate, with limited seating capacity—get your tickets early!

Saturday, March 1, 7PM – YAMBAWA YÁMBAWA, composed of master percussionist Anthony Carrillo and jazz pianist Amy Quint-Millan, brings a genre-defying concert to kick-off March is Music 2025! Don’t miss it as the world-renowned Anthony Carrillo sets the night ablaze with his percussive skill on an impressive array of instruments, from the Congas, Cuban changui bongo to the Puerto Rican Barril and Southeastern tabla, and adds texture to popular songs including “Time After Time,” “Dust in the Wind,” and “Fragile.” A diverse band of master musicians hailing from Puerto Rico, Spain, Dominican Republic, the MidWest US, and Brooklyn are also set to perform original compositions rooted in latin, rock, funk, jazz, combining cuban flute, hi-flying jazz trumpet, heavy latin trombone, MOPERC latin percussion and more!
Sunday, March 2, 3PM – GABRIELLE CHOU & MORIAH TRENK PIANO DUO (Bronx Piano Sundays) Classical pianists GABRIELLE CHOU and MORIAH TRENK return to March is Music for a Piano Duo that joins their massive talents on the Pregones Theater stage! The multi-instrumentalist GABRIELLE CHOU is on the roster of organizations such as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Teaching Artists and holds a B.M. and M.M. from Juilliard, where she was among the select few students accepted on both piano and violin curriculums. MORIAH TRENK is currently a full-time Company Pianist at Philadelphia Ballet. She has performed with BalletX and was recently featured in a solo performance at The Villages, Florida where she received critical acclaim for her fluid and graceful style. Other recent engagements have included performances as a soloist and with ensembles at Bargemusic, Candlelight Concerts by Fever, the Boston Museum of Fine Art and Carnegie Hall. RSVP
Saturday, March 8, 7PM – SOL CARBONE: LATIDOS DE LATINOAMERICA Join us on March 8th, International Women’s Day, for a special concert by the San Juan, Puerto Rico based singer-songwriter Sol Carbone pays tribute to the women who have paved the way for a new generation of poets. Don’t miss it as she performs original compositions including her song “8 de marzo” along with works by other Latin American female composers. GET TICKETS
Sunday, March 9, 3PM – SIYU GUO (Bronx Piano Sundays) Chinese born pianist SIYU GUO began her musical journey at the age of 4, and by 14 years old was chosen to perform the Chopin Piano Concert No. 1 with the Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra. Siyu has earned a series of accolades including first prizes at the Nice International Piano Competition, The Hope Cup Competition, and the Hannover Gieseking International Piano Elite Competition, China Finals. Currently a student at The Juilliard School, Siyu brings a classical concert set to captivate audiences at Bronx Piano Sunday! RSVP
Saturday, March 15, 7PM – FIESTA EN EL BATEY WITH PAPO VÁZQUEZ MIGHTY PIRATES TROUBADOURS Fiesta en el Batey with Papo Vázquez and the Mighty Pirates Troubadours showcases the dynamic sounds of their latest album, Songs del Yucayeke. Featuring original compositions and arrangements by Vázquez, the ensemble will bring an electric night of Jazz, Puerto Rican folkloric music, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms to March is Music 2025. Don’t miss it as Vázquez’ Mighty Pirates Troubadours demonstrate their artistry and renown as influential voices in the Latin Jazz scene! Don’t miss it as she brings a deeply emotive concert to the Pregones Stage for March is Music 2025! In recent years, she has taken the spotlight as a soloist with esteemed orchestras like the London Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Kammer Philharmonic Orchestra, and Asia Philharmonic Orchestra. Saturday, March 22, 7PM – MIND-BUILDERS JAZZ NIGHT AT PREGONES/PRTT Mind-Builders Jazz Nights –the student driven series that celebrates the versatility of Jazz as performed and interpreted by Mind-Builders’ award-winning intergenerational Stage Band– prepares a special Jazz Night presentation for Pregones Theater! Directed by Christopher Palmer, the Stage Band will present an amalgamation of jazz standards and styles offering a soundscape of this great American music as uniquely told by some of the Bronx’s most talented next generation players, and special musical guests! Sunday, March 23, 3PM – BRIELLE PEREZ (Bronx Piano Sundays) Since her debut at the age of ten with the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, Brielle Dulce Perez has captivated audiences with her exuberant sound which she is set to bring for a special Bronx Piano Sunday performance! Perez’s engagements span the United States, Europe, and Asia, where she has earned top prizes in competitions such as the New York Piano Festival and the Málaga International Piano Competition. Sunday, March 30, 3PM – ESME BÖLÜCEK (Bronx Piano Sundays) Esme Bölücek, a native of Ankara, Turkey, had her first recital at age 9 and has since had numerous solo and chamber concerts throughout Europe and North America, and at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall among others venerated venues. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from The Juilliard School, Esme is a top prize winner of numerous competitions. Join us as she brings her admirable talents for Bronx Piano Sunday! MARCH IS MUSIC / Building on a commitment to present artists of the highest caliber in The Bronx, this multi-genre series showcases the range and vitality of today’s varied musical cultures. Curated by seasoned Latinx artists, series concerts and dialogues draw links between music, dance, and popular culture, highlight ruptures and continuities in form and content, and make room for intercultural fusion and exchange. Chief curators: Alvan Colón Lespier, Associate Artistic Director, and Desmar Guevara, Resident Composer and Musical Director.
BRONX PIANO SUNDAYS / During the month of March, this subseries shines a spotlight on one of Pregones/PRTT’s prized possessions: a Steinway & Sons grand piano. Stellar pianists are invited to perform works of all styles and eras on this magnificent concert hall instrument. Showtime is 3PM and admission is always FREE.
