The 22-23 Season has begun for the theater community across the country. A cautious beyond-pandemic atmosphere is sparking the creative energies of all spheres of artistic expressions.
At Pregones / Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, the ignition is on! And the Bronx Manhattan Theater Express is abuzz with events in both our theaters. Creativity abounds as we revive musical theater productions from our vast repertoire, open our stages for guest artists’ creative residencies, tour our Bronx gardens, exhibit great works in our Bronx lobby gallery, present a broad range of guest artists, and maintain a collaborative cable TV broadcasting presence year-round.
I am delighted to share some HIGHLIGHTS of our 22-23 Season at Pregones Theater (Bronx) and the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Manhattan):
STAGE GARDEN RUMBA – What’s a Summer in our Bronx gardens without our traditional tour through these community hubs that are our local gardens? Performance, activism, exhibits, artisans’ fairs, and more!
MAINSTAGE x 5 – Yes! Fasten your seat belts because our productions will surely get you moving, tapping, reflecting, clapping…The Embrace, Harlem Hellfighters on a Latin Beat, Aloha Boricua, Quarter Rican and another round of Torched!
PRESENTING on a roll! – The 17th edition of March Is Music will include a combination of extraordinary musicians and performers, while we collaborate with artists whose works are currently being developed to be premiered and presented at our theater.
ONLINE feast! – The 21 Islands International Short Films Fest returns with a selection from nearly 2,000 submissions from around the globe! The 21 winning Island producers will be offered online for your enjoyment and participation.
BUT WAIT!! THERE’S MORE!!
Collaborative initiatives and Artistic Residencies continue to flourish at PregonesPRTT.
What’s not to love!! Check this out:
- Bronx Film Wednesdays offers great films on the first Wednesday of every month, in collaboration with BronxNet Community Television,
- Kyoung’s Pacific Beat and their fabulous 6-week Artistic Residency to develop original multidiscipinary play NERO,
- the streaming of the Latiné plays edition of The Refocus Project, in partnership with Roundabout Theatre Company

Active exchanges will result in expanded programming throughout the year. Because as I said before, creativity abounds. And the 22-23 Season will result in a beautiful string of creative dots, perfectly connected throughout our ongoing journey in The Bronx-Manhattan Theater Express!
Rooted in ensemble practice on and off the stage, our dynamic Artistic Team has crafted a vibrant Season, our Management Team has unleashed its mechanisms to implement our collective vision, our Production Team is connecting the pieces to achieve the perfect puzzle, and our Facilities Team works diligently to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all. My endless thanks to each one of them.
I hope these highlights get you up and ready to ride our Bronx Manhattan Theater Express!!
Happy New Season!
