Somos Cine: Hispanic Heritage Month

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Bronx Film Wednesdays presents Somos Cine, a curated selection of powerful short films from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba. Through stories of love, family, identity, resilience, and community, these films highlight the diverse voices and experiences of Hispanic filmmakers across the Caribbean. From an elderly couple fighting to save their home to a young boxer searching for redemption and women from Vieques navigating barriers to healthcare, this collection celebrates the richness, complexity, and enduring spirit of Hispanic storytelling.

An elderly married couple attempts to rob a bank to save their home from foreclosure, but an unexpected turn reveals the deeper reason behind their desperate act.

Biopsy | Dir. Glorimar Marrero I Puerto Rico I 13:00 Minutes
Carmen accompanies a group of women traveling from Vieques to San Juan for breast biopsies, revealing the challenges of accessing essential healthcare while highlighting the strength and solidarity of the Vieques community.
