Bronx Film Wednesdays – Independent films you will love.

Tune in as BxFW celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a selection of short films counted among the best Hispanic submissions of the 21 Islands International Short Film Festival–– and an interview with director Francisco Rojas from the Dominican Republic speaking about his short film Run.

  • RUN. In a dystopian future, sacrifice is a necessity. Director: Francisco Rojas. 2017. Dominican Republic. 2:30 min.
  • CARDUMEN. The hard life of a kid and his audacity to succeed. Director: Katherine Bautista. Dominican Republic. 12 min.
  • WE’RE GOING TO PARIS. An old married couple try to rob a bank with the purpose of saving their house which has a foreclosure on it, but the couple receive a tremendous surprise when they enter the bank. The real reason for the robbery is later revealed. Director: David Norris. 2017. Puerto Rico. 9 min.
  • EL ZURDO. A young and talented boxer is expelled from the boxing academy and must break the news to his grandfather, his first coach and the only one who can make him come back. Director: Alberto Martin. 2018. Cuba. 15 min.

DAVID NORRIS has a Master’s degree in Mass Media Writing from Sagrado Corazón University and has distinguished himself as a screenwriter and movie director. For the past fifteen years, David has worked in various facets of the world of communications and his six short films have had a positive impact on the local film scene.

KATHERINE BAUTISTA studied at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic. In 2011 she produced her first short film, The Andalusian Killer, which won first place at the 6th Santo Domingo UASD International Short Film Festival. She writes for Cineasta magazine and has twice won the prize of the Fund for Cinematographic Production (FONPROCINE) of the General Directorate of Cinema, in the short film category. In 2013 she produced and directed the 7th Santo Domingo UASD Fest. In 2014, she won in four categories with her short film Cardumen.
