ABOUT Bomplenazo Collective

The Bomplenazo Artists Collective (BPAC) – is a unique gathering of Bomba and Plena artists-practitioners and renowned NY and island-based musicians, coming together with the common purpose to work, spice, create, perform, and share these Afro-Boricua-Criollo musical genres, for the mutual enjoyment of artists and folk.

After its acclaimed review in The New York Times on its world premiere concert and in the Bomplenazo 2016 Biennial, at Hostos Center for the Arts, the Bomplenazo Artists Collective comes to Pregones to perform a classic-innovative-down-to-earth repertoire of original and standard Bomba and Plena works, conceptualized, arranged and orchestrated by BPAC Co-Directors, Ivan Renta-the renowned reed instrumentalist, arranger and composer, and Juango Juan J  Gutiérrez, Founder/Director of Los Pleneros de la 21 and 1996 NEA National Heritage Fellow.

Presented in collaboration with Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture.

PLEASE NOTE:
This concert will take place at
Pregones Theater in The Bronx
