30 Artists, 6 New 10-Minute Plays, all in one evening!
Presented in collaboration with Harlem 9
We are thrilled to partner with our dear friends from Harlem 9 to present the fifth edition of 48 Hours in El Bronx, Sunday February 4, 2024, at 7pm.
A phenomenal roster of 30 Latinx theater artists gather for an intensive theater-making marathon, creating six new short plays. This year the plays are inspired by the iconic music from Bronx hip hop artists Sha-Rock, Big Pun, Remy Ma, Melle Mel, Cardi B, and KRS-One. We celebrate The Bronx by digging into the music of these six pioneers of hip hop, emblematic of a Bronx sound that has shaped the genre and continues to inspire hip-hop lovers world wide.
Our 30 artists are divided into six teams, each consisting of one playwright, one director and three actors. Each team is assigned one hip hop artist and one of their most iconic songs. Then, over an immersive period of 48 hours, six new 10-minute plays are written, rehearsed and performed live, off-book, at our Bronx venue for one night only.
