Dancing In My Cockroach Killers
First NYC performances in five years!
November 1-18, 2018
at PRTT in Manhattan
Created in collaboration with poet Magdalena Gómez, Dancing tells stories of resistance and resilience from brazen feminist and working-class perspectives — brimming with heart and laugh out loud humor! Paying tribute to great Puerto Rican cultural icons from Joe Cuba to Lolita Lebrón to Iris Chacón, Dancing is an explosive mix of words, music, and visuals sure to get you on your feet.
The show was first conceived by director/dramaturg Rosalba Rolón during a Master Artist tribute presented by Pregones to Ms. Gómez with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The work grew into a fully staged musical production in collaboration with the late Miriam Colón (1936-2017), founder of Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. Dancing had its Off-Broadway premiere at PRTT in 2013, and is now part of Pregones/PRTT’s national touring repertory. The show returns to its New York City home after acclaimed runs in Los Angeles, CA (Encuentro Latino Theater Festival, Stage Raw Recommended), Washington, DC (GALA Hispanic Theater, Helen Hayes Recommended), and Holyoke, MA (Palante Theater Pop Up).
“Gritty and lyrical, edgy and memorable!” –The Washington Post
“It reminded the audience that theater can not only be fun, entertaining, and a great night out, it can also be thought-provoking, and rebellious!” –DC Metro

This production is performed in English and Spanish with dual language supertitles. Running Time: 80 minutes with one intermission.
