A feature event of PregonesPRTT’s
PLATAFORMA project – The Bronx-Broadway Showcase for Latino Theater.

[tab: ABOUT]

A behind the scenes treat! Come take a look at what is inspiring our acting and music ensemble artists and the works they are getting ready to develop! From ideas still on a piece of paper or fully realized segments of the new work, our artists dive in with ideas for new work in collaboration with other company members or partners of their own.

Showcase excerpts include:

Pura’s Lágrimas – is the Caribbean Electro Pop music project of Yaraní del Valle (Yara) and Gabriel Lugo (Gabo). A collaboration between an actress/singer and a sound engineer/percussionist, Pura’s Lágrimas is an organic, fun approach to music making. Yara creates the lyrics and melodies. Gabo creates the arrangements and electronic sounds. The result is an intense yet playful musical performance infused with Puerto Rican humor, exciting vocals and new sounds.

More To Life – A woman travels in the afterlife and is confronted by her creator. She is given 2 choices: reincarnate and receive a better life, or stay in limbo and bear witness to her children’s lives. Her choice sets off a series of events exploring truth, lies, and the human condition. Written and directed by Omar PérezMore to Life is a celebration of life, love and the pursuit of answers. This project uses traditional theatrical methods of music and movement, as well as new methods of adaption including the use of recipes for storytelling!

¿Quieres boogaloo? ¡Coge boogaloo! – It is music, theater, part comedy part not. It is pure Flaco Navaja, a solo show that uses the format of a Las Vegas style lounge act to explore the life of an artist and the effect his choices have on his family. Classics and original songs. Written and performed by Flaco Navaja.

And there’s more! – Two new works set for major Pregones/PRTT production will be introduced at Remojo 2015!
